CROSIEC Chairman seeks for cooperation amongst electoral officers for successful conduct of LG polls

The Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr Ekong Edet Boco, has sued for the cooperation of Electoral Officers  towards the successful conduct of the upcoming local government election in the state.

The call was made in his office while addressing a meeting of electoral officers in the Southern Senatorial District of the state.

Ekong said the meeting was to enable the new commission interact with the officers and to brief them of what was expected from them .

 He stated, “2024 local government election will take place in Cross River state, in doing so, you will play a major role in helping us in the various local government to deliver on the mandate”.

The chairman lauded them for delivering on the commission’s mandate in the past and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in carrying out their duties.

He maintained that the commission at this time need people with experience and knows the terrain already to ensure the conduct of a hitch-free local government polls.

“We need people that have the experience, that knows the terrain already and not somebody that is brand new and does not know what election atmosphere is  he emphasized”.

While underscoring the importance of their role in the conduct of a free, fair, peaceful and credible local government election, Ekong reminded them that the commission rely mostly on them because of their past experience and urged them to justify the confidence reposed on them assuring them of support to aid their work.

Some of the issues raised at the meeting includes, things needed to prosecute the election, recruitment and training of adhoc staff, office accommodation among others. 
The Electoral officer for Akamkpa, Mr. Victor Ukam had expressed gratitude to the Commission for the meeting and promised on behalf of his colleagues to work assiduously to deliver on their mandate.
