The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) has published a notice of election and schedule of activities for the 2024 local government council’s election in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Commission chairman, Dr Ekong Edet Boco, made available to newsmen recently.
The statement announced November 23, 2024 as the date for the conduct of local government election in the state.
Boco said, “In keeping with the provisions of section 197 (1) (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, Cross River State Government reconstituted the State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) with the aim of organizing, supervising and to undertake the 2024 local government councils election in the State”.
He went to state that the Cross River state Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) here by issues the Time Table and schedule of activities for 2024 local government elections in the state.
Publication of notice of election – 25 September 2024, conduct of party primaries/resolution of disputes 25th Sept to 15th October 2024, presentation of list of candidates – 9th Oct to 29th, 2024, Collection of Nomination Forms 21st Oct to 29th Oct, 2024 and validation of Nomination particulars by Electoral Officers -29 Oct to 1November 2024.
Others are, process/validation of particulars of candidates by the Commission, publication of final nomination particulars by the Commission -9th November 2024, commencement of campaign by political parties 9th – 22 November,2024, submission of names of polling agents from political parties -15-22 November,2024, Notice of poll -21 November,2024, last day of campaign – 22 November and 2024 local government election,23 November 2024.
He sued for cooperation, support and understanding from all the stakeholders so that the Commission will deliver on their mandate of conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible local government elections.
