Undergraduate students of Obubra extraction world wide have been advised to initiate legacies that promote academic excellence to make them remain good ambassadors of their Alma Mater.
The executive Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Kingsley Arikpo gave the charge during a maiden colloquium organised by Obubra Post Graduate Students Association to honour members of the academia who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of study as Professors.
Arikpo who was represented by Secretary of Obubra Council, Dr Atan Obeten admonished the students to remain focused and thrive in their various professions and areas of career development to sustain the trajectory of going up to the peak of their academic pursuit.
The Chairman congratulated the awardees who have excelled academically and having the pedigree of being members of the Senate of their respective institutions.
The colloquium which held at the Council Hall of Obubra Secretariat was under the distinguished Chairmanship of the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation, Mr Andiambey Johnson Ebokpo Jr. a revered son of Obubra.
The event which had the theme; “Consolidating our intellectual trajectory and expanding the frontiers.A pivot for new Obubra” , featured presentations from you discussants among whom were, Dr Beatrice Ebingha, Dr Paddy Tom, Mr Romanus Okpo and Mr Emmanuel Iron.
In the roll call of the Who’s Who that bagged the Distinguished Excellent Awards include an Atmospheric Physicist/energy research and sustainability Advocate, Prof Igwe Ewona, Prof.Okorn Osam, Prof. Friday Aje and Irom Okey, all of University of Cross River State. ( UNICROSS)
Also in the long list are: Professors Alphonsus Enang, Anim Ajake, Walter Mboto, Simon Ering and Associate Prof Colins Okey, all in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the famous University of Calabar.
Others are: Prof Anthony Mbina, Prof Agonang Obembe and and Prof. Charles Mfem of medical School and allied Sciences.
Also prominent among these, astute and front line Medical Consultants in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, (UCTH), Prof. Boniface Ago.and Prof. Goddy Ebughe.
