The State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon.Patrick Egbede, has reaffirmed the stance of the Ministry as a catalyst for employment and wealth creation.
Egbede was reacting in an interview to the ongoing agricultural training for 200 Cross Riverians in Nassarawa state.
He said that the venture was not only apt but appropriate in the agricultural revolution strategy of the state government .
He commended the state governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for graciously approving the agricultural training program.
Egbede said that the opportunity offered was unique and progressive and a fulfillment of his electoral promises to prioritize the people’s needs. He pointed out that the training program which would be in batches was part of the aggressive efforts of the state government to galvanized human and natural resources to effectively exploit the abundant agricultural resources especially land most of which are either lying fallow or underutilized.
According to him, the huge benefits of the training program which would resonate in human capital and wealth creation and Employment would be unquantifiable.
He informed that the intensive training program which would last for two weeks is expected to cover critical areas such as the use of farm tools and machines,cultivation of crops, irrigation, palm tree management, root crops, horticulture, vegetable and animals husbandry including piggery, Poultry as well as fishery.
The Commissioner explained further that the trainees were selected from a compendium of the state Data Base managed by the Ministry as generated by Desk Officers across the state.
Mr Egbede stated that the Ministry which has the statutory mandate to explore all plausible means of creating wealth and increase employment rates would continue to expand its tentacles to all fields of endeavour..
He said that at the end of the program the trainees would be profiled and empowered to practicalize their knowledge.
According, to him the training school is of high degree of excellence drawing patronage from all states of the federation and most African countries.In an interaction with some of the trainee on phone, they applauded the state government for the generosity and vision and promised to activate the knowledge gained from the program.
They commended the school administration for the dedication to friendly and accommodating.
