As the world marks today as the International Women’s Day with the theme, “‘Accelerated Action ‘ the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Hon. ( Mrs) Lawrencia Ita has advised women to embolden up and rise up with glory.
Ita who stated this in a statement in Calabar noted that though progress of women were prominent in all sectors of human endeavors across the world, the room for dominion was still large.
She particularly acknowledged the significant achievements in politics, science and technology, sports and education by women.
According to her, since the beginning of the campaign for women emancipation and equality with the male folks at the Beijing Conference in China, progress of women have been remarkable in all fields.
Most commendable according to her is the realization that their male counterparts are progressively recognizing their multidimensional endowments and are positively exploiting them.
Commissioner Ita used the opportunity to commend the Cross River State Governor, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for being gender sensitive in the deployment of human resources in the state and prays for sustainability.
This amiable status she noted accounted for the appreciable appointment of women into political offices as well as the reflection of such satisfactory gesture in the employment and deployment of civil servants.
She urged women across the world to remain proactive and to seek plausible means of bringing peace and prosperity to all people of the world.
Also commended was the First Lady, Bishop Dr, Mrs, Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu for her empowerment of Cross River women as well as the encouragement given to women to excel in every sphere.
Commissioner Ita also commended the four Cross Rivarians who were among the 100 women honoured to mark the day as the most influential in Nigeria by Gender Perspectives in Development.
