Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba visits Eze Ndi Igbo Cross River state and leadership of Igbo Community Calabar

The Honourable Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Bassey Akiba, recently paid a courtesy  visit to the Eze Ndi Igbo and the leadership of the Igbo Community in Cross River State.

The visit, which took place at the palace of the Eze Ndi Igbo in Calabar, was both a homecoming and a heartfelt moment of appreciation for Rep. Akiba. 

In his remarks, he expressed profound gratitude to the Igbo Community for their unwavering support that contributed immensely to his electoral victory in the 2023 general elections. 

He thanked the community for believing in his vision and for standing firmly with him, pledging never to take their trust for granted.

The Federal Lawmaker gave a detailed account of his stewardship in the National Assembly, highlighting key legislative interventions, constituency projects and programmes including the Livelihood Support Programme through Cooperatives, Health Support Programme, and Educational Support Programme. 

He reaffirmed his commitment to impactful representation in fulfillment of his bonds with the people while fostering peace and unity among the diverse ethnic groups within his Federal constituency.

Earlier, the Eze Ndi Igbo Cross River, His Royal Highness, Eze Emmanuel A. Ezenwenyi, along with members of the traditional Council, praised Rep. Bassey Akiba’s quality representation, noting that his leadership style reflects humility, inclusion, accessibility, and an unwavering commitment to the people. 

He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and pledged the Igbo Community’s enduring support for the lawmaker.

In a symbolic moment, the Eze Ndi Igbo, bestowed royal blessings upon Rep. Bassey Akiba, praying for wisdom, protection, and greater achievements in his legislative journey. 

The visit was also marked by generous donations from the Federal Lawmaker to support community development efforts within the Igbo enclave in Calabar.

Amidst outpouring of goodwill, this historic visit not only further cements the cordial relationship between Rep. Bassey Akiba and the Igbo Community but also stands as an eloquent testimony to his inclusive approach to leadership, one that recognizes and honours the diversity of his constituents.

Also in his remarks, Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Non Indigenes Affairs, Mazi Okey Maduekwe, praised Hon. Bassey Akiba for his quality performance as a Federal Lawmaker.

He described his defection to All Progressives’ Congress (APC) as home coming and applauded his support, partnership and collaboration towards the achievement of “People’s First mantra”.

Mazi Maduekwe advocated for the total collapse of opposition structure in Cross River state to stop distraction from the ongoing infrastructural development and transformation across the 18 local government areas of the state.
