C’River NUJ commiserates with CPS to Gov. Otu over demise of his brother

The Cross River State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condoled Chief Press Secretary to Governor of Cross River State, Comrade Nsa Gill and his family on the demise of his beloved brother, late Chief Ekpo Bassey Eyo.

Chairman of NUJ, Cross River State Council, Comrade Archibong Bassey expressed deep condolences at the funeral service in honour of Late Chief Ekpo Bassey Eyo held on Friday April 11th 2025 at the deceased compound, No. 4 Duncan Street, Calabar South.

The service was conducted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, New Covenant Assembly Area.

In his homily, Pastor Sunday Omitogun implored Christians to adhere strictly to the teachings in the word of God.

He spoke on the theme: “Don’t Reject Correction” referencing Genesis 3:1-4, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said; let there be light: and there was light and God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness”.
 He advised that “the spirit of God is hovering upon every Christians life to separate us from sin which is life of darkness to a life of light which is righteousness to lead every believer to eternal life after sojourn on earth as books will be opened to judge every person according to his or her work while on earth”.

Earlier, Comrade Gill described his Late elder brother “Etete or Akpan Adiaha (Ekpo-Parker) as fondly called by his friends “as a very social and peace-loving person”.

His remains were interred at the Hawkins cemetery Calabar after the funeral service which was attended by dignitaries within and outside Cross River State.

They include his colleagues at Hope Waddell Training Institution (HOWAD) and St. Vincent College, Oti-Oron and members of the Cross River State Executive Council and All Progressives’ Congress (APC) stalwarts from Odukpani and Calabar South Local government areas in Cross River state. 

He is survived by wife, children, grandchildren and siblings among whom is CPS to Governor Otu, Comrade Nsa Gill.
