The Special Adviser to the governor of Cross River state, His Excellency Sen Apostle Bassey Otu, Mazi Okey Maduekwe has lauded the leadership of Ogbako Anambra in Cross River state for consolidating on the gains of the founding leaders to allow peace and unity to reign among the Igbos resident in the state.
He made the remarks while speaking as guest of honour at this years Anambra Day 2025 celebration under the umbrella of Ogbako Anambra in Calabar.
Maduekwe also used the opportunity to thank the President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Hon.High , Chukwuemeka Ambrose Egwuonwu (KSM) on his untiring efforts to ensure that absolute peace returns amongst the Igbos in Cross River state.
He described him as a great asset to humanity and urged the entire Igbos to support his leadership.
Recalled that the official inauguration took place recently after a thanksgiving service at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Marian Hill, Calabar.
Also, the SA congratulated Anambra people for the show of unity and peace and for coming together under one umbrella for the celebration.
“I am very happy with what I saw today and I want to assure you that, the Governor, His Excellency Sen Apostle Bassey Otu shall be properly briefed on healthy development indicating that peace has returned amongst the Igbos resident in Cross River state”.
He said, “it has been his dream and vision to reposition Cross River state back to its lost glory. From what I have seen today, the unity and togetherness of the gathering of Anambra people, it is an indication that peace had returned amongst the Igbos in Calabar Cross River state”.
‘It shows that sanity and togetherness has returned amongst the Igbos, he added”.
Said he, “Onbehalf of His Excellency, Sen Apostle Bassey Otu, I want to salute the leadership of Ogbako Anambra in the state for quality leadership offered to the people of Anambra.
Also, “I extend my appreciation to the Eze Igbo Cross River state, Eze Sir E. A Ezenwenyi, because this is his brain child”.
However, he said, “this occasion is not only for the Anambra state. I have seen the Presidents of other states coming to merry with you. The President of Igbo is also here. This has shown that the Igbos are united now”.
The SA recalled that “before the emergence of the Governor, he was worried over the stories flying everywhere and had hoped that one day the Igbos would gather again as one indivisible entity in Cross River state.
He declared “I am going to tell His Excellency, that truly Igbos are more united aside from what he witnessed during the inauguration of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Cross River few weeks ago. There is absolute peace and unity among Igbo community in the state”.
During his campaign, there were lots of unpalatable stories surrounding the Igbos, concerning lack of unity. Anambra people have demonstrated that Igbos are united from this Anambra Day 2025.
