Ulok Ulok Hall, Ibono Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom state, was agog with activities on December 23, 2025, as Mgbandiak Obolo Foundation, also known as Obolo People’s Converge, inaugurated a new set of executives during its 2025 Annual Converge.
Mgbandiak Obolo, the apex pan-Obolo socio-cultural organisation, brought together Obolo sons and daughters from across communities to witness the formal handover of leadership and reaffirm the collective commitment to the wellbeing and prosperity of the Obolo people worldwide.
At the well-attended ceremony, Enerieng Engr. Cosmos Oron, PhD, was inaugurated as the new President of the organisation.
In his acceptance speech shortly after taking the oath of office, Engr. Oron expressed profound gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to uphold and advance the lofty ideals of Mgbandiak Obolo, stressing his determination to reposition the organisation as a strong, united, and credible voice for the Obolo people. According to him, the new administration would focus on unity, strategic engagement, and advocacy aimed at protecting Obolo interests and promoting sustainable development across Obolo land and beyond.
Engr. Cosmos Oron, a renowned business mogul and oil and gas expert, is a respected and patriotic son of Obolo land from Okoroete in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.
His emergence as President was widely welcomed by members, who expressed optimism about the future of the organisation under his leadership.
The immediate past President, Enerieng Apostle Hon. Samuel Eka, in his valedictory remarks, appreciated members of the organisation for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. He noted that the pioneer administration under his leadership had laid a solid foundation for the growth and stability of Mgbandiak Obolo.
He listed some of the achievements of the pioneer executive to include; acquisition of land for the building of Obolo House which will serve as the headquarters of the Organization. Under his leadership, the Organization has gained recognition by the State Government as one of the respected socio cultural organisations in the State amongst other achievements.
He urged the incoming executive to consolidate on the gains recorded and take the organisation to greater heights.
Also inaugurated at the event were the newly elected executives of the Ibeno and Eastern Obolo chapters of Mgbandiak Obolo, further strengthening the organisation’s grassroots structure and coordination.Mgbandiak Obolo Foundation remains a pan-Obolo socio-cultural platform dedicated to advocating for the unity, welfare, and overall prosperity of Obolo people wherever they may reside across the globe.
The 2025 Annual Converge and inauguration ceremony marked another significant milestone in the organisation’s evolving history.
