The Cross River State Commissioner’s Wives Forum has demonstrated passionate love for mankind by presenting food, beverages, toiletries, and cash to the inmates of the Uwanse Motherless Babies Home in Calabar.
Presenting the items, the President of the Forum, Mrs. Rosemary Francis Ekpenyong wife to the Commissioner for Land said that the gesture was to share with the kids the joy associated with Easter celebration.
She emphasized that their action was principally to collaborate with their husbands who are privileged to be called to service as Commissioner’s in the present dispensation of the Governor Otu led government.
The Forum leader also said that the zeal to accomplish the task seamlessly was also borne out of the passionate disposition of members to use their positions to impact on the less privileged in the society.
Mrs Ekpenyong who said that she was highly impressed with the management of the home commended the state government for it’s efforts in that direction as well as the managers whom she described as professionals with unbridled love for the children.
She promised that visitation by the Forum members either individually or collectively would be regular as a way of appreciation and encouragement for the good works.
The Forum members who thronged the scerene environment of the home with well kept lawns,neat and beautifully managed bed and beddings and all the facilities marvelled at the works of the state government.
Navigating the premises and some facilities, the Commissioner’s Wives interacted with the children most of whom were with health challenges with empathy and love.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, the Officer In Charge of the Home, Mrs Ekanem Archibong described the gesture as highly commendable adding it will go a long way in the upkeep of the Home.
She said that the Home has 41 inmates and several devoted and committed staff including volunteers.
Mrs. Archibong later conducted the Commissioner’s Wives round the facility introducing in dexterous manner every member of the Home with precision.
