The Chief Judge of Cross River, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, has commended a frontline legal practitioner in the State, Barr Daniel Ekpo and Wife, for choosing the path of Thanksgiving to God for the abundant blessings to the family.
The CJ made the commendation during a joint thanksgiving ceremony which marked Barr. and Mrs Daniel Ekpo’s one year anniversary in holy matrimony and the dedication of their baby, Quintessance-Akon Ekpo, at Winners’ Chapel, Ibom Layout in Calabar.
Ikpeme described Barr. Ekpo as a dedicated and pragmatic lawyer, whose activities in the Nigerian Bar Association earns significant contributions to the legal profession.
She admonished the couple to bring up their baby, Queentesence-Akon in the way of the Lord, so that she may not depart from the ways of Jesus Christ as she grows.
The CJ prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the child to grow and fulfil her destiny to the glory of God.
Earlier in a sermon, Pastor Destiny Samuel, who officiated at the thanksgiving Church service, urged Christians to always give thanks to God who is the “Author and Finisher” of Christian faith.
The cleric who invoked Heaven against satanic forces with the Word of God, charged.the couple to uphold the virtues of Christian faith and live in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ by ensuring understanding, tolerance and love.
A former Chairman of the Calabar Doyen Bar Association, Barr Williams Anwan who chaired the event, eulogized the couple for harmonizing the legal and medical professions in marriage, describing the duo as veterans, who have made meaningful contributions in their areas of specialty.
Responding, the couple thanked God for his guidance and abundant blessings upon their lives.
Ekpo noted that it became necessary for them to thank God as a family for His infinite mercies.
Ekpo however, expressed appreciation to the CJ, Justice Ikpeme, who made time out of her busy Schedules to honour his family.
Daniel Ekpo, who is Special Adviser to the CJ on General Duties and Media, also thanked members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Judiciary Staff, friends and well wishers for gracing the occasion.
Also present at the church service, were Col.and Mrs Francis Oyom.Highlights of the occasion were: goodwill messages, and cutting of cake.
