Cross River State Water Board Limited To Partner With Leaders Of Ndok Community Over Water Supply – MD

Cross River State Water Board Limited has concluded plans to work in collaboration with leaders of Ndok Community in Ogoja local givernment area of Cross River State to ensure steady production and supply of portable water to the community.

To achieve this laudable plan, the Managing Director, Cross River State Water Board, Chief Victor Effiom Ekpo, has sued for partnership and collaboration with  leaders of Ndok community in Ogoja local  government area of Cross River state.

He made the call 9during a courtesy visit to leaders in the community recently. 

Chief Ekpo, who noted that hitherto the clan rulers had placed some traditional injunction restraining the board from producing water from the Booster facility located in the community, called for peaceful resolution of the issues,  adding that “the board is committed to providing portable water to the area”.

According to him, “we are here to make peace with you. We are going to make amends and keep to every agreement that will take place today. We are also here for the traditional injunction to be removed so that we can work and extend our services to the people of Ndok Community”.

Ekpo stated that “the board is committed to executing the order from the state governor, Senator Ben Ayade, to provide water for all citizens in the state.

He announced that “pipes.for the connections of pipe borne water   will arrive from Calabar so that we can start the pipeline work and within a month, we will supply portable water to your homes”.

He further sued for an enabling environment and necessary support for free flow of work in the area, during the period his staff will be working. 

Also in her remarks,  the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Water Board, Hon. Agnes Astu, urged the  community leaders to take ownership of the project noting that “once the state government brings any project to you it becomes your own. If you want it sustained then you need to secure the place”.

She emphasized that the Board is committed to fulfilling its mandate to provide portable water to every home in Cross River state.

In his response,  the Clan Head of Ndok, Ntol Clement Ashaba Ijanga ,commended the management team of Water Board for the gesture and pledged the unalloyed support of the community to ensure that the work of the board is uninterrupted. 

Said he, “we promise that as you go back, the place will be cleared because we needed opportunity to reach the government and express our problems”.

Also speaking on behalf of the community, Hon. Micheal Ikpang Obi, thanked the managing director and his team adding that ” the visit has boosted our confidence that the Board will correct the error done to the community and extend quality water to the people in the area” .
