As the claims of the spread of the coronavirus in Cross River state intensifies, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has confirmed the death of one of its members, Rev. Sister (Dr) Kate Okpa in Ogoja.
By this development, the total number of NCDC confirmed Covid-19 deaths in the state is now thirty three (33).
Out of this figure,, nine (9) patients are said to have been cured and discharged.
Confirming this to the Patriot News Correspondent, NMA state chairman, Dr. Ayuk Agam, said “Currently, we have nine members who are infected with Covid-19. We lost a member in Ogoja, Rev. Sister (Dr) Kate Okpa to Covid-19. It is something that is serious. The national response team has been around [in the state] for almost two weeks now”.
He lauded the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the attention it is paying to medical practitioners in the state and pleaded with the State Government to do likewise.
