The Igbo Community Calabar Delegates General Assembly Meeting has endorsed and officially welcomed the leadership of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo executive led by High Chief Festus Odoemenam as President General.
The acceptance and endorsement took place in Calabar during the Igbo Community Calabar chapter Delegates General Assembly Meeting held at Specs Suits State Housing.
It was a colourful and memorable occasion as it was witnessed by a cream of distinguished Igbo sons from all walks of life in attendance.
The Ezeigbo, Ndi Nze na Ozo, High Chiefs and Delegates all unanimously endorsed the new executives with one voice and spirit.
Speaking, the President of Igbo Community Calabar, Pharmacist (Sir) Sam Obi Oyeka, welcomed Ezeigbo in council, Ndi Nze na Ozo and all delegates who within the short notice of the meeting endeavored to attend.
He thanked God Almighty whose presence was made manifest in the peaceful and fruitful deliberations.
Oyeka congratulated all members who were successful in the Ohaneze election particularly the incumbent President High Chief Festus Odoemena who hosted the meeting.
He assured that Igbo Community Calabar will work towards achieving all we agreed on. From today’s event it is obvious that unity has returned in the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo. Calabar is one of the 12 chapters that make the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.
Joe Ubaugo Ameke (Chinyelugo) Nna ndi Anambra state represented Ezeigbo Sir, Emmanuel Ezenweyi in the meeting and expressed his joy and happiness in the new leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.
Hon. Chief Chukwuemeka A. Egwuonwu (SSA) to the governor of Anambra state on Community Liaison (Ochubaradike Ohia 11) of Awa was also in attendance.
In an interview, he said, “I am one of the critical stakeholders in Igbo Community and the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Cross River state. I don’t believe in rumour mongers and I don’t believe in petty and cheap popularity.
“What you have seen today shows that the igbos in Cross River state is a united one body across the entire state, he noted”.
“There is no crack. Election has come and gone and in an election, one person must win. The current President of Ohanaeze is doing well to ensure that the losers were accommodated.
He admonished them to know that leaders are rulers, but should see themselves as chief servants of the people at all times in wherever organisations of body they found themselves.
According to him, “you are the chief servants of the Igbo. You are to bring us as one united big family to fight our enemies when they come to attack us but if we are disintegrated they will penetrate us and crack”.
“Today’s event has shown the world that the Igbo are one big family in Cross River state and that there is no crack at all, Egwuonwu added.”
The SSA advised those who lost in the elections to return back to the fold and join their brother in one accord.
He reassured Cross Riverians that as an in-law, and an investor in the state, he cannot allow any Igbo man to plan evil, adding “I will be the one to report him first if there be such a threat”.

The meeting was attended by the following. They are, president general Igbo community calabar. Sir Obi Sam Oyeka, Prince Raymond Obidike Atuloma VP and President General, Nzuko ndi Abia, High Chief Faustus Odoemenam, President Ohanaeze ndi Igbo, Cross River state and President general, Nzuko ndi lmo.
Others are Professor Chris Chukwura, president general, Enugu Peoples Assembly able represented by Prof. Uche Amalu of Unversity of Calabar, Comrade Ndubuisi Igwe (SI) President general Ebonyi state Development Association, Ogbuevi Emmanuel N.Okechukwu (Ikpemalueziokwu) President General, Ogbako ndi Anambra state. Eze Sir E .A Ezenwenyi Eze Igbo Cross River state was represented by Hon (Chief) Sebastian Ekeonu Nna ndi Ebonyi.
