The Bakassi Local Government Council has taken over the management of “Tony Beach” at Ikang with immediate following clashes by some individuals in the area over its ownership
The decision was taken at the council’s security meeting which was presided by the Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Hon Chief Iyadim Amboni Iyadim and attended by all the military and paramilitary heads assigned to the area with the aim of averting threats to lives and property in the area
According to the Chairman, a three man interim management committee has been put in place to manage the beach for 90 days pending the outcome of an investigation by the council’s peace and security committee to determine its actual owner
The three man interim management committee has Chief Okon Bassey as its Chairman while Mr Bassey Nathaniel and and the Special Adviser- Peace and Security, Mr Efffiong Etim Okon will serve as members
Iyadim, who led the security council members to the beach, urged operators at the beach to cooperate with the committee while awaiting the results of the white paper to determine its actual owner while calling on the Chairman of the committee to ensure revenue is collected from the agricultural produce that come in through the beach.
