Rt.Hon Daniel Asuquo Appeals Over Disqualification As LP Cross River Senatorial District

Following the ruling by a Federal High Court Abuja disqualifying the Cross River Southern Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party, Rt. Hon Daniel Asuquo, has filed an Appeal for stay-of-execution of judgement.

He stated this while addressing newsmen in Calabar to put the records straight.

According to him, “I have appealed to the Federal High Court in Abuja for stay of execution of the judgement which disqualified me as candidate for Cross River Southern Senatorial district”.

Hon Daniel Asuquo, popularly known as “Dansuki”, is representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

It would be recalled that Justice A.R. Muhammed presided over the Federal High court which nullified the primaries conducted in Calabar by the Labour Party for the Cross River State Southern Senatorial District.

Addressing journalists, he said, “as a democrat, I had of the judgement, but we as a party has decided to go for an Appeal and until judgement is given I am the candidate for the Labor Party for Cross River State Southern senatorial district.”

“I have come to state the true position and to reassure Cross Riverians that I am still in the race, come 2023 general elections “.

As a party, we are starting our campaign today in Odukpani local government area of Cross River State to show how prepared we are.

Answering questions from newsmen, he said, “as representative of his constituency he had delivered on his promises to his people. They projects are scattered in all the wards and community.”

He said that “I have never been an anointed politician. I have always relied on the masses for my victory at the polls and that is why they are afraid of Rt. Hon. Daniel Effiong Asuquo”.

The Senatorial candidate for the Southern district, Hon. Asuquo said that there has never been any arrangement to support any other political party, adding ” I am in support of back to south agitation”.

Earlier, the governorship candidate, Amb. Ogar Osim, had reassured the teeming supporters to remain resolute and ensure that Labour Party candidates are voted into power. 

Ogar Osim who is also the governoship candidate, said Lawmaker remains the validly nominated candidate for the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State.

Osim faulted the judgement saying that the House of Representative  member was validly nominated.

According to him the party had already appealed the judgement of the Federal High Court.

“We followed the law, we did our primaries in accordance with the law.

Rt  Hon  Daniel Effiong Asuquo left People’s Democratic Pary (PDP) as governoship aspirant before joining Labour Party (LP).
