Bakassi Council Eulogizes Late Irene

The Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Council of Cross River State, has described late Hon Princess Mrs Irene Offiong Ekpe as a legislator who performed her roles  tremendously while alive as a member of Bakassi Legislative Council.

This remark was made when the executive and legislative arms of the council paid a condolence visit on the late councilor’s family recently 

The chairman of Bakassi Local Government Council, Hon Chief Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, eulogized her “as an established and selfless person whose contributions during her stewardship as a councilor and Chief Whip of the Legislature can not be quantified”.

Iyadim said she was a dedicated and committed councilor that had the interest of her people and Bakassi in her heart. 

Iyadim therefore urged them not to grief over her departure but be consoled that she had played her part and made her contributions to the development of Bakassi.

The Leader of Council, Hon Edem Effiom Ekeng, said the serving Legislators were there to condole with them over one who had served the Council between 2013 and 2013 with uttermost sincerely, adding that her love for the council as well as Bakassi was enormous.

Ekeng noted that her demise is a great loss  not only to her immediate family but Bakassi because of sterling legacies , assuring that though death is inevitable, God will comfort them.

Responding on behalf of the bereaved family, her  brother, Dr Antigha Asuquo, appreciated the Council for the condolence visit as well as  support during their period of grief.

The remains of late Hon Mrs Irene Offiong Ekpe were  on Friday taken to the Bakassi Legislative Chamber , Bakassi Local Government Council Headquarters, Abana ,Ikot  Effiom for a  Valedictory Service which was attended by past and serving councilors and executive members of the council in her honor.
