The Clan Head of Ikot Offiong in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River Ambar Etinyin Umo Okon Effiom, has called on the security agencies to as a matter of priority investigate the reasons behind renewed hostilities in the area with a view to restoring peace, law and order.
He made the call when the Director General Greater Calabar, Comrade Kingsley Ikpeme visited him on a fact finding/solidarity tour in his Palace.
Effiom called on the security agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute perpetrators and their sponsors.
He appealed to youths to shun reprisals and desist from being used negatively to cause upheavals by unscrupulous elements who are bent on disrupting the peaceful disposition of Cross River State.
Earlier, Comrade Ikpeme who was on a solidarity visit urged the youths to shun reprisals and allow law operatives to carry out their constitutional duties, as the arrest and investigate and prosecute perpetrators of the barbaric acts.
He said that “peace is priceless and terror is senseless.”
Ikpeme admonished perpetrators and sponsors of renewed barbaric act of destruction of private residences in Akpabuyo local government area.
He charged youth to sheath their swords and allow relevant government operatives act. Cross River State is known for peace. Vote not war. Peace is priceless and terror is senseless. Vote not war. Speak through the ballots”, he noted.
The DG charged youth to shun reprisals and allow law operatives to carry out their constitutional duties and called for thorough investigations, arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of barbaric act.
