Regular training and retraining of civil and public servants is an antidote to rusty operations in service delivery.
The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Hon. Mrs. Lawrencia Ita made the assertion while declaring open a One-Day in- House training for staff of the Ministry held at the Headquarters, New Secretariat, Calabar.
She said that empowering workers with prerequisite knowledge of the workings of government was expedient in order to be updated with new developmental ideas that would vantage them to effectively and efficiently face the ever dynamic technological changes.
Hon Ita further pointed out that the Ministry is a highly technical sector that required regular updates so as to seamlessly carry out the activities of government.
According to her, though the Ministry was experiencing paucity of workers, those on ground needed adequate exposure and educational recharge within the framework of the mandates of the Ministry to deliver.
She urged the participants to proactively inject the content of the training with the purpose of impacting on their schedules..
The Commissioner used the forum to advise other MDAs to seek plausible means of intensive in- house training which would sharpen their knowledge preparatory to meeting the goals and objective of government especially at the levels of symbiosis.
The in-house training which was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr Peter Bisong and the Director of Administration, Ms Ekpenyonganwan Ene had lectures delivered by two resource persons,a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr Omini Egwu and a Director in the public service,Mr James Usani.
