Desk Officers in the 18 local government areas of Cross River state have received their statutory mandate to profile all vulnerable persons in their jurisdictions for easy accessibility.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment Hon Patrick Egbede performed the ceremony in all the LGAs in collaboration with the Heads of Local Government Administrators who provided accommodations for the officers.
Addressing the Desk Officers, Egbede orientated them on their statutory duties which he said was crucial to the socio-economic progress of the state.
He maintained that the Data collation of the vulnerable; the aged, physically challenged, farmers, petty traders,, widows, unemployed, youths, artisans was designed to place the state in a vantaged position to address the various groups when the need arises.
Egbede emphasized that government has an unwavering intention to futuristically empower the people through loans ,grants and any other forms of empowerment.
He urged the Desk Officers to be focused, committed, passionate and empathetic in the mandate.
According to him, “in as much as the State Government would provide the logistics for the success of the task, the Local Government Councils were expected to provide conducive environment for them.
He used the opportunity to call on the people of the state who falls into the categories to cooperate with the Desk Officers and get themselves registered in anticipation of government interventions.
