2024 Abia Day: Gov Otu felicitates Nzuko Ndi-Abia on 10th ‘Iriji’ new yam festival

Cross River state governor,His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu,  felicitates the Nzuko Ndi-Abia, on the occasion of 2024 Abia Day and 10th ‘Iriji’ new yam festival in the state.

Otu who was represented by his  Special Adviser on Non Indigenes Affairs, Mazi Okey Maduekwe remarked the symbolic occasion of the celebration of planting and harvesting and encouraged the Abians and other non indigenes both traders and civil servants to key into the government’s green and blue economy initiatives.  

According to him, this could be engaging in both small and large scale farming to be able to sustain their families to reduce dependence on government to everything.

He praised them for their participation in the recent local government election and support to the government.

Otu also recognized and praised the support of the Abia State governor as a colleague and personal friend in the business of governance.

He called on the entire Nzuko Ndi-Abia to attend the Cross River State 5th Solemn Assembly billed for the 23rd November where our brother and son will feature as guest Minister.

Earlier, Hon Maduekwe had used the opportunity to remind the public and invite them to the end of the year activities including the ongoing Cross River State Trade Fair and the 32-days Christmas Festival starting from the 1st December.

The high point of the occasion included cutting and eating of new yam, other traditional cuisine, traditional dances, price giving and award to some distinguished sons and daughters of Abia state.
