Obubra Chairman, others felicitate Governor’s man over Honorary Doctorate award

 December 6, 2024 marks another significant milestone in the life of a legal Icon and front line Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba as eulogies have continued to trail his award with an Honorary Doctorate degree in Divinity.

Speaking in an interview, the Chairman of Obubra Local Government council. Hon. Hon Kingsley Arikpo, described the award on the Lawyer, as well deserved,  predicating it on the parameters of merit, dedication to duty, diligence, hard work,  in addition to the variables of  character and learning.

The Chairman who spoke  with newsmen shortly after inaugurating members of the Obubra Local Government Executive Council, alongside other  appointees of his new administration at the Obubra Council hall, sees Akiba as a  prestigious personality with absolute command of popularity and honour.

Arikpo who also gave accolades to the Apostolic Bible College and Seminary for rewarding excellence in stewardship, congratulated the SA, saying that, the Honorary award was not a surprise to him.

Also in a telephone interview, an Atmospheric Physicist/ Energy research advocate, in the University of Cross River State, (UNICROSS) Prof. Igwe Ewona,  extolled the initiative of  the awarding institution for its choice of the distinguished Special Adviser, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, for the befitting award which he described as “another feather added to his cap”.

Ewona who was the immediate past Dean of  Faculty Science, UNICROSS, congratulated Akiba, imploring him to sustain  the tempo that has justified his role as a true  Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties.

Recall that recently in the weekend, a prestigious citadel of higher learning, the Apostolic Bible  College and Seminary, in affiliation with University of  Calabar, Nigeria,  conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity on the SA, Barr. Akiba, as a  mark of honour for exemplary and selfless service to humanity.

The event which took place at 101 Marian Road in Calabar, the State Capital, brought together Captain’s of industries, members of the state and federal Legislature, Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Chairmen, family members and a retinue of friends drawn from the Bar and the academia respectively.
