The Chairman of Obubra Local government council in Cross River, Hon Kingsley Arikpo has admonished leaders at all levels in the state to draw inspiration from the leadership style of the state governor, Prince Bassey Otu if they must win the people’s hearts.
Arikpo who also made the list of dignitaries at the Governor’s coronation ceremony at Adiabo-Efut, gave the charge in a chat with newsmen shortly after the ceremony.
He expressed admiration for what he described as “give and take galore” on the parts of the Governor who provides the infrastructure on one hand and his people who gathered to pay him back on the other.
He urged those holding public office to always work for the benefit of the people as if it is going to be their last day in office.
Extolling the virtues of Prince Bassey Otu, the Chairman recalled that the Governor in less than 20 months of his administration has transformed rural communities across the state, through access roads construction that have remain fundamental in his score card.
Also recall that the Governor and his dear wife, Rev Eyoanwan visited their country home of Adiabo- Efut in Odukpani Local Government Area to celebrate the festivity with his kinsmen who used the occasion bestow him with traditional honour.
At the celebration which took the semblance of a carnival, the Central Creek Town Traditional Ruler Council decided to decorate him and his wife with the prestigious traditional titles of Uforo Iboku and Utuenikang Iboku EsIt Edik respectively.
Reports have it that the gesture was in appreciation for the ongoing construction of the long abandoned Adiabo/Creek Town-Ikoneto road which accesses Odukpani coastal communities and thereby adding to the list of his exploits
It was a free for all interaction of the people dinning with the benefactor and his family, as the people parted with food grains in bags, clothing as well as monetary gifts when the Apostle preached to them as a take home, the message of peace and love which he said are essential ingredients for individual and societal growth.
