It was a harvest of tributes at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Apiapum Urban Parish in Obubra Local government area of Cross River, when the remains of a christian mother, late Madam Enyang Okpa Etaba, arrived the church venue in a motorcade weekend.
In a condolence message to the Supervisor for Health in Obubra, Hon. Orim Okpa Etaba, son of the deceased, the executive Chairman of Obubra Local Government Area, Hon. Kingsley Arikpo, described late Mrs Enyang Etaba as a woman of virtue, a revered and outstanding teacher who touched many lives during her live time.
The Chairman, further described the demise of the community leader as a colossal loss to Apiapum community and the Okum nation in general, for her exemplary legacies.
Arikpo who was represented by his Vice Chairman, Hon. Leonard Ogwa, admonished members of the bereaved family to continue to live in the memories of their late mother and emulate her virtues.
The Senator for Cross River Central, Sen.Eteng Williams, in a eulogy, described the deceased as a virtuous woman and therefore, admonished her children to reflect on the sterling qualities of the matriach and uphold her good name.
Also in a condolence message to a Senior Legislative aide, in Abuja, Hon Okpa Etaba, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions
, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, enumerated the sterling qualities of late Madam Enyang Etaba as a devoted christian mother, committed teacher, farmer and a courageous leader of Mbembe Choir at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Apiapum Urban Parish.
Etaba who represents Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly, eulogized the late Madam Enyang for her legacies, exemplified in unwavering christian faith, human compassion, service and commitment to her family and community maters.
Also in the roll call of who’s who at the well attended funeral service, a former Minority Leader of the 7th Legislative Assembly in Cross River, Chief Alex Irek, described the late Matriarch as an accomplished and extraordinary woman.
Also in a condolence message ,Dr Alex Egbona, representing Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency, charged members of the bereaved family to draw inspiration from the good works of their mother and emulate her.
Other sympathisers drawn from the green chamber of the National Assembly include; Hon. Victor Abang , Dr. Godwin Offiono, Hon (Dr) Emil Inyang, among other dignitaries from within and outside the state..
Earlier, the Minister in-charge of Apiapum parish of the Presbyterian church of Nigeria, Rt. Rev. Johnson Effiong who officiated at funeral service, admonished members of the congregation to examine themselves and also prepare for their final exit since death is inevitable to all mortals
The officiating Minister used the sermon to remind the multitude about the vanity of life, urging all, to draw nearer to God for the salvation of their souls.
Late Madam Enyang Okpa was interred in her ancestral home, Apiapum, weekend.
