The Cross River State Football Association is poised to organise a hitch free and successful 2026 Governor’s cup competition devoid of violence and hooliganism.
The remark was made by the chairman of the Cross River state Football Association, Hon. Apostle Essien Ayi during a media briefing with sports journalists in Calabar.
Apostle Ayi disclosed that the theme for this years governor’s cup competition is tagged ” Prince otu cup of consolidation and continuity”.
He applauded the state governor for releasing funds in time for executing this year’s competition.
The former lawmaker revealed that the kickoff date for the competition is billed for sunday, november eight and will be rounded off on friday, December 11, 2026 and that arrangements have been put in place to beef-up security in the six match venues designated for the tournament.
He said a total of eighteen local government clubsides and six private teams will be participating in the over one month governor’s cup fiesta.
