The Cross River State Football Association has inaugurated an 8-member Security Committee in Calabar.
Inaugurating the Security Committee, the Chairman of the Cross River State Football Association, Apostle Essien Ayi, said the primary responsibility of the committee was to ensure adequate provision of security before, during and after football matches in the Cross River State.
Apostle Ayi, who was represented by the 1 Vice Chairman of the Football Association, Mr. Greg Abang, said the Security Committee must put in place all necessary measures to discourage any disturbance during football matches.
He congratulated members of the committee on their appointments, assuring that the Football Association would provide the necessary support to enable the committee succeed.
Responding, the Chairman of the Security Committee, Mr. Johnson Eko James, expressed appreciation for the opportunity given them to serve.
Mr. James assured that the Committee would discharge its responsibility effectively.
Other members of the Security Committee are ASP Meeting Funkeyi of the Nigeria Police Force, who will serve as Vice Chairman, with Mr Archibong Udoh and Mr Effiong Essien of the Rovers Supporters Club as members.
Other members are Mr Essien Coco-Bassey, Mr Edem Ephraim, SP Colombus Enu of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Mr Oqua Etim.
