The Association of Housing Corporations of Nigeria, (AHCN) has elected new officers to steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years.
The election took place during her 49th AGM/114th Council Meeting combined with the 2-day workshop held in Calabar.
During the election, Esv. Eno Obongha who is the Managing Director of Cross River State Property and Investment Company Limited was re-elected unopposed as the President of the Association to serve the second tenure in office.
Also re-elected are the Managing Director of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, Hon. Ayodeji Adebayo as the first Vice President, the Managing Director of Kano State Housing Corporation, Mr. Abdullahi Rabiu as the second Vice President and Mr. Daniel Makava a Director with the Nigerian Building and Road Research as the scribe of the Association..
Other re-elected officers of the Association include, Barrister Patrick Udomfang of Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company as the Auditor, the former President of the Association, Dr Victor Onukwugha and Mr. Olusesan Obe, the Managing Director of Centre Base Consult Limited Lagos as ex-officio members and Dr. Anayo Edeh of Enugu State Housing Development Corporation as Legal Adviser.
However, the Managing Director of Abuja Property Development Co Ltd, Mr. Kolawole Aderogba emerged as the new Financial Secretary, Miss Stella Uzoma of Centre Base Consult as Treasurer and Arc. Babatunde Adeleke of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation as the Chairman of the Technical Committee.

Others include, Mr. Emmanuel Abulele of the Abuja Property Development Company Limited became the Public Affairs Officer while Bldr Mohammad Gana was elected as the Secretary of the Technical Committee.
Also during the workshop, the meeting noted the current housing crisis in Nigeria with galloping affordabilityfor urgent scalable solutions to meet the rising housing demands of the people.
The workshop observed that the traditional affordable housing programs whichfor faster delivery and cost efficiency housing for the people.
It also observed that the current housing demand arising from rapid Frame works and Housing Infrastructure Funds that will set clear housing productionurbanization, population growth,rising construction costs and financing constraintstargets and finance infrastructure for housing development to address scalable.
The meeting noted the golden era when housing corporations emerged as strategicaffordable housing delivery.
It commended the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative of the current administration and urged Federal Government to allot specific role to state housing corporations as government agencies created to deliver social and affordable housing to Nigerians in all the states of the federation.
The meeting however bemoaned the current housing shortage particularly in Abuja and Lagos where unoccupied houses developed by private developers are unaffordable to thepeople who really need housing are wasting away without occupation in our major

cities.neededsupporttotheirhousingcorporationsinaccessingseamlesslandbankingcities.
Therefore called on all state governments to urgently provide and funding to address rising housing shortages for the low and medium incomegroup.
