The All African Games Current Boxing Heavy Weight Champion and Gold Medalist, Mr Ifeanyi Onyekwere, who represented Cross River State and Nigeria in the last Commonwealth Games has called for government and corporate sponsorships to sustain his position.
Onyekwere made the appeal when he paid a courtesy call on the Special Adviser to His Excellency, Prince Sen. Bassey Otu, on Non-indegenes, Chief Okey Maduekwe in Calabar to present the Gold Medal.
Presently, Onyekwere is preparing for May 2024 Olympic.
He appealed for the state government encouragement to energize him as he gets ready to fight at the May Olympic, flying Cross River State and Nigerian flags.
In his remarks, Chief Okey Maduekwe, congratulated him and other state contingents who have made the state and the country proud.
He assured them that the State Government would continue to encourage and motivate the youths in every endeavors most especially our sports men and women as we expect more laurels from the Olympics.
