Aside spiritual programmes, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has put in place sporting activities to mark the 2024 celebration of the Divine Birthday of the spiritual leader, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
The event will feature Soccer Tournament Competition among Secondary Schools, table tennis, among other athletics in Cross River State.
The BCS Sports Festival is billed to take place from Wednesday 13th – Friday 14th November, 2024 at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State.
Unfolding this to the media, Chairman of the BCS Sport Festival, Patriarch Obioma George explained that the tournament is another medium to ascertain stars that will be further trained professionally and technically.
He said it will help to empower young minds who have found delights and pleasure in sport activities as well as encourage the spirit of oneness and unity which football represents.
Speaking at the kick off of the football match, Secretary of the Sports Festival, Ogarekpe Ekpezu said that the sport event will involve several secondary schools in the state.
According to him, “winners will not only smile away with mouthwatering prizes but budding stars would be identified”.
Head of BCS Events Management, Ogar Osim said, “It is a well-known fact that the leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu is the Pillar of sports.
His Holiness, he said, “is a promoter of sports and good fortune and His contributions to developing sports talents in the State and beyond cannot be overstated.”
The Divine Birthday celebration of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu is billed for 20th November, 2024 and it is expected to bring together people from different parts of the world to Calabar for a one week spiritual and humanitarian service.
